Saudi Arabia Welcomes Ceasefire in Lebanon
Saudi Arabia has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, as conveyed by United States President Donald Trump.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation for the positive role of Lebanon, namely President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri. Their roles were significant in achieving the ceasefire.
“Saudi Arabia reaffirms its support for Lebanon in upholding its sovereignty,” stated the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as quoted by the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi Arabia supports the reform measures taken by Lebanon. Additionally, it backs the country’s efforts to maintain its capabilities, security, and territorial integrity.
US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire starting on Thursday (16/4/2026) at 21.00 GMT or Friday (17/4/2026) at 02.00 WIB, following negotiations in Washington.
“I have just had a very good conversation with the honourable President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon and Prime Minister Bibi (Benjamin) Netanyahu of Israel,” Trump said in a statement.
According to Trump, the ceasefire agreement is intended to achieve peace between the two countries.
