Saudi Arabia unchanged on Palestine
A Saudi government source told Al ArabiyaEnglish on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, that the Kingdom maintains its stance on Palestine. Previously, US President Donald Trump on Monday, 25 May (local time), urged Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and surrounding regions to normalise relations with Israel as part of the ongoing Iran peace deal being brokered. In a TruthSocial post, Trump listed the countries whose leaders he spoke with last Saturday regarding efforts to end the war with Iran, stating: ‘After all the work the United States has done to try and solve this highly complex puzzle, it should be mandatory for all these countries, at the very least simultaneously, to sign the Abraham Accords.’ The Abraham Accords, brokered by the Trump administration in 2020, normalised diplomatic ties between Israel and historically hostile nations. Saudi Arabia’s position has long been clear, with the Kingdom repeatedly stating it will not normalise relations with Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
