Saudi Arabia Not Issuing Hajj Furoda Visas This Year: What Is It?
The Indonesian government, through Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anwar Simanjuntak, has emphasised that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not issuing Hajj Furoda visas this year. “There are none; this year Saudi Arabia is not issuing Hajj Furoda visas,” he stated at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah office in Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (9/4/2026). He stressed that the only legal Hajj visa currently issued by Saudi Arabia is the standard Hajj visa. What is a Hajj Furoda visa? This type of Hajj visa was previously explained by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah to anticipate illegal Hajj activities. According to Kompas.com, there are four types of Hajj visas considered valid by the Saudi government. First is the regular Hajj visa and special Hajj visa, which use the official quota from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Second is the Hajj muamalah visa, a special visa issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to certain individuals, with all Hajj implementation costs borne by the Saudi government. Third is the Hajj dhakhili visa, given to foreign nationals who have resided or lived long-term in Saudi Arabia, such as workers. Beware of scams. Therefore, Dahnil reminded the public to be wary of Hajj departure offers appearing on social media. The Ministry, together with the National Police (Polri), is now forming a Task Force for Preventing Illegal Hajj, tasked with addressing the modus operandi of illegal Hajj departures. “That is what we want to prevent; if it continues, the police will automatically take criminal action, as it is a scam modus,” he added. Dahnil emphasised that there are currently only two official channels for Indonesians: regular Hajj and special Hajj. He also stressed that the term “Hajj T-zero” or without queuing is a scam tactic promising pilgrims immediate departure without waiting. “So, whether regular Hajj or non-regular Hajj or special Hajj, there is no T-zero Hajj (without queuing),” said Dahnil.
