Saudi Arabia Intercepts Three Missiles Targeting Prince Sultan Air Base
Riyadh — The Saudi Defence Ministry announced that its air defence forces had intercepted three ballistic missiles and two drones targeting the kingdom overnight on Friday, March 6, 2026. The missiles were aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj. One drone was shot down in the Eastern Province and another in Al Kharj; according to Arab News, the origin of the missiles and drones has not yet been determined. Earlier on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the ministry also neutralised three cruise missiles targeting Al Kharj, just hours after a drone attack over the Ras Tanura refinery in the Eastern Province was thwarted. Al-Kharj is a key industrial area located about 80 kilometres southeast of Riyadh.
