Makassar (ANTARA) - The Saudi Arabian government inaugurated the fourth terminal under the Makkah Route Initiative in Indonesia on Tuesday (21/4). The inauguration took place at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, coinciding with the departure of the first Hajj pilgrimage flight to Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. This initiative aims to provide high-quality services to Hajj pilgrims from participating countries before they arrive in Saudi Arabia. The programme enables pilgrims to complete procedures in their home countries, from the issuance of electronic Hajj visas to the recording of biometric data. Immigration processes by the Saudi General Directorate of Passports are also conducted at the departure airport after verification of health requirements. Additionally, baggage is labelled and sorted according to transportation and accommodation arrangements in Saudi Arabia. With this system, pilgrims can proceed directly to buses that take them to their residences in Makkah and Madinah, while baggage is sent separately by the relevant parties.
