Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, has once again affirmed the Saudi government’s stance in rejecting and condemning Iran’s overt attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, other Arab Gulf countries, and friendly Arab and Islamic states.

“Reaffirming the stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s government in rejecting and condemning Iran’s overt actions in attacking Saudi Arabia, other Gulf countries, and friendly Arab and Islamic states,” said Ambassador Faisal during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The ambassador stated that Iran’s actions, which continue to this day, have caused losses to the civilian sector, human lives, and infrastructure, and clearly contradict and violate all international norms, laws, and principles of good neighbourliness.

“We also once again affirm our rejection and condemnation of the dangerous impacts of these attacks on regional political stability, particularly those directed towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” he said.

According to the ambassador, the Kingdom has adopted a prudent approach in facing Iran’s provocations, while asserting Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defence through diplomatic and non-diplomatic channels.

He emphasised the importance of immediately halting these attacks in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2718, which is supported by 136 United Nations member states.

The Ambassador also highlighted that Iran’s attacks target interests and civilian as well as other targets in Saudi Arabia and regional countries, resulting in numerous casualties and significant material and moral losses.

He added that the continuation of Iran’s attacks will cause major political damage to that country and worsen its suffering and international isolation.

“These attacks also have a negative impact on the solidarity and unity of the Muslim ummah,” he added.

He further stressed the importance of cooperation to ensure freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz, in order to avoid negative impacts on the global economy as well as international security and peace.
