The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs has completed preparations for the road networks and infrastructure in Makkah and the holy sites for the Hajj season. This was achieved through the implementation of over 11,000 kilometres of roads. The Ministry completed these works via a package of development projects and field interventions aimed at enhancing traffic flow and mobility efficiency in high-density areas.

In addition to constructing more than 11,000 kilometres of roads, the ministry also carried out the maintenance and development of approximately 74,000 square kilometres of road surfaces. Furthermore, over 12,000 square kilometres have been paved to strengthen traffic network readiness and support efficient mobility in Makkah and the holy sites during the Hajj season.

According to the ministry, the plan also includes improving the readiness of 123 bridges and 44 pedestrian and vehicle tunnels, alongside infrastructure enhancement works related to traffic lanes. These efforts are intended to contribute to better road safety and create more efficient movement in vital areas surrounding the holy sites. The ministry emphasised that these efforts are part of an integrated operational system aimed at increasing urban infrastructure efficiency, smoothing traffic flow, and reducing congestion points in areas with high pilgrim density during the Hajj season.
