The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emphasised that the Hajj visa is the only official document recognised for foreign pilgrims performing the Hajj. This clarification aims to prevent the use of non-Hajj visas that do not comply with regulations. “Performing Hajj is not permitted for holders of visit visas, transit visas, Umrah visas, or any type of tourist visa,” stated an official release from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, as reported by Saudi Gazette on Monday (13/4/2026). Additionally, for local residents and expatriates in Saudi Arabia, Hajj permits can only be obtained through the Nusuk app. To acquire them, Saudi citizens must complete the booking process via official channels. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also reminds that Hajj service bookings must be made through verified official channels. The public is urged not to use unofficial routes to avoid potential scams or legal problems during the Hajj pilgrimage. In Indonesia, the Indonesian government is strengthening efforts to prevent illegal Hajj practices ahead of the 1447 H/2026 M Hajj season. The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, together with the Indonesian National Police (Polri), has formed a special task force to address the use of non-Hajj visas and non-procedural departures. These steps are taken to protect prospective pilgrims from fraud while ensuring the pilgrimage proceeds according to regulations. This initiative also follows directives from President Prabowo Subianto to tighten supervision over Hajj arrangements.
