Saudi Arabia Applauds Indonesia's Hajj Management, Minister Says Mina Evaluation Remains Priority
JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia has praised Indonesia’s Hajj management in 2026, noting progress in organisation and services for pilgrims. Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Minister, Mochammad Irfan Yusuf, said the appreciation was evident from Saudi Arabia’s direct attention to Indonesia’s Hajj operations during the Armuzna phase.
‘Saudi Arabia has shown strong appreciation. Even the Saudi Hajj Minister personally visited the Indonesian pilgrims’ tents in Mina. This is a recognition of the improvements Indonesia has made,’ he said on Monday, 1 June 2026.
However, Irfan stressed that the government will not become complacent. Several issues, particularly regarding tent capacity and facilities in Mina, will be the focus of evaluations for the next Hajj season.
‘Mina has limited space, but we cannot use that as an excuse. Each year must see improvement efforts to enhance services for pilgrims,’ he said.
Regarding the possibility of increasing Indonesia’s Hajj quota, Irfan explained there has been no official discussion from the Saudi government yet. The current basic quota remains around 220,000 pilgrims.
He added that the government’s main focus is improving service quality and strengthening cooperation with Saudi authorities to ensure Indonesia’s Hajj operations become more professional, safe, and comfortable for all pilgrims.
