Saudi Arabia Announces Day of Arafah for 26 May and Eid al-Adha for 27 May 2026

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday (17/5/2026) that the Wuquf at Arafah on 9 Dzulhijjah, which marks the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage, will take place on 26 May 2026. Consequently, the first day of the Eid al-Adha celebrations will fall on 27 May 2026.

According to a statement from the Supreme Court broadcast by the Saudi Press Agency on Monday (18/5/2026), this marks the first day of the month of Dzulhijjah. The announcement was made after the Dzulhijjah crescent moon (hilal) was sighted within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Supreme Court’s Moon Sighting Department reached this decision following a session held on Sunday (17/5/2026) evening. The decision was finalised after reviewing testimonies provided by several witnesses regarding the sighting of the Dzulhijjah moon.

In its announcement, the Supreme Court also offered prayers to Allah to grant the best rewards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister, for the services they provide to the pilgrims. The Supreme Court further prayed for the ease and comfort of the Hajj pilgrims in performing their pilgrimage and for their deeds to be accepted, while also seeking continued security, stability, and prosperity for Saudi Arabia and its leadership.
