Saudi Arabia and US Sign Nuclear Energy Cooperation Agreement

Saudi Arabia and the United States have signed an agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, according to the Saudi Energy Ministry on Thursday. The agreement builds on the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries and follows an announcement made during the visit of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the US last November regarding the conclusion of negotiations on bilateral cooperation for the peaceful use of nuclear energy, the ministry said in a press release. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and facilitate the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and technology in accordance with the highest international standards for nuclear safety, security, and non-proliferation, the ministry stated. It added that the agreement supports efforts to diversify energy sources, develop advanced technologies, and expand opportunities for cooperation and investment that serve the mutual interests of both countries.
