Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, has condemned Iran’s attacks on several regional countries in the Middle East. He stated that the attacks violate international law, including the principles outlined by the UN.

Faisal emphasised that Iran’s actions not only target vital facilities and infrastructure but also impact civilians and ships sailing in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz areas.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the unprecedented stance expressed by the international community towards the position or stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries,” Faisal said at the Saudi Embassy in South Jakarta on Thursday (26/3/2026).

Faisal welcomed the support from the international community, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817, approved by nearly 163 member states, as well as a resolution from the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

For information, the UN Human Rights Council resolution was unanimously adopted on Wednesday (25/3) local time. The resolution condemns Iran’s attacks on its neighbouring Gulf countries and calls for full and prompt compensation to all victims of those attacks.

“We also welcome the resolution issued by the Human Rights Council in Geneva yesterday, which was issued yesterday,” he continued.

Faisal stated that the resolution focuses on the consequences of these attacks, particularly regarding human rights and other matters.

Through this resolution, the UN Human Rights Council also strongly condemns Iran’s actions against vital sites, infrastructure, ports, and other vital places in countries not involved in this war.

“And those actions certainly contradict and violate international law as well as laws related to the mission outlined by the UN,” he said.

“This resolution affirms condemnation of Iran’s attacks, especially those targeting vital infrastructure and airports, including against countries not directly related to the conflict,” he added.

Ambassador Faisal emphasised that Iran’s attacks contradict the principle of good neighbourliness and violate international law. This has the potential to disrupt regional stability.

“The resolution also states that these actions are directed at countries that are truly not involved in this war and certainly contradict the applicable principles,” he explained.

“And those actions certainly contradict and violate international law as well as laws related to the mission outlined by the UN,” Faisal continued.

Nevertheless, he emphasised that the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains committed to diplomatic channels. However, he strongly rejects and condemns Iran’s attacks that threaten sovereignty, security, and regional stability.

“We strongly reject and strongly condemn Iran’s actions directed at ships sailing in the Gulf area, especially those sailing in the Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz,” Faisal condemned.

“And the impact is certainly very clear, namely the impact related to security as well as the global economy in general,” he said.

It is known that the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on 28 February, which killed its supreme leader and triggered a war in the Middle East.

Since then, Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks across the region, including attacks on Gulf countries that host US military bases. Those countries have stated that they are not involved in the conflict and did not allow their territory to be used by the US to launch attacks.
