Saudi Ambassador Reveals Impact of Middle East War on 2026 Hajj Implementation

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, has revealed the current situation in Saudi Arabia ahead of the Hajj pilgrimage. Faisal stated that there is an impact from the Middle East war on the implementation of the Hajj worship.

“Regarding the events currently occurring in the region (Middle East), alhamdulillah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains safe and peaceful up to now,” said Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Faisal also disclosed that the stock of fuel oil (BBM) in Saudi Arabia is secure. He mentioned that Saudi Arabia’s BBM stock is safe.

“In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alhamdulillah, with regard to BBM, we are safe. However, we also do not want these impacts to be felt by other countries due to this war, as we know that this war has had a significant impact on energy security, supply chain security, and so on,” he said.

Nevertheless, Faisal noted that fuel prices have risen by up to 65% in the last week. According to him, this increase affects the ticket prices for the Hajj pilgrimage.

“The most evident impact is the rise in BBM or oil prices; in less than a week, the price has increased by 65%. This rise naturally has a direct impact on the increase in avtur (aviation fuel) prices, and subsequently, the automatic rise in ticket prices applicable for the Hajj pilgrimage,” he said.

Faisal emphasised that the Saudi Embassy will continuously coordinate with the Indonesian government. They will continue to provide assistance to ensure the smooth conduct of the Hajj.

“We at the Saudi Embassy will certainly continue our efforts to always coordinate and cooperate, and also to alleviate any problems that may be faced. Of course, we are ready to provide support and assistance for the successful and smooth implementation of this Hajj worship,” he stated.
