Jakarta (ANTARA) - Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Amudi, emphasised that Iran’s attacks on Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region are not beneficial to Iran.

“We want to reiterate that what Iran has done to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the surrounding countries will not produce anything,” Faisal said during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (26/3).

He assessed that Iran’s actions would instead have fatal consequences for the country, including deepening political, economic, and regional isolation.

He also reaffirmed the Saudi government’s stance in condemning Iran’s attacks on countries in the Middle East, as they have caused losses in the civilian sector, human casualties, and infrastructure.

According to Faisal, those actions violate international norms and laws, as well as the principles of good neighbourly relations.

“These attacks also have a negative impact on the solidarity and unity of the Muslim ummah,” he said.

Faisal added that Saudi Arabia continues to prioritise a wise approach in responding to Iran’s provocations.

He emphasised that his country has the right to defend itself, both through diplomatic and non-diplomatic channels.

Faisal also stressed the importance of cooperation to maintain freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz.

Such steps are necessary to avoid impacts on the global economy as well as international security and peace.

Faisal stated that Saudi Arabia welcomes the support of the international community, as reflected in the approval of 136 UN member states for UN Security Council Resolution 2718.

The resolution calls on Iran to stop attacks on countries in the region and avoid provocative policies.
