The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi, has assured that the organisation of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage remains safe despite the heating up of the Middle East region due to attacks carried out by Iran. He emphasised that the situation in Saudi Arabia is running stably and all Hajj preparations are proceeding according to plan.

This was conveyed by Ambassador Faisal during a press conference at the Saudi Ambassador’s Residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alhamdulillah, is indeed safe up to now. Regarding the events or in relation to this Hajj, it is in line with or according to the planning outlined by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that everything will run smoothly,” said Ambassador Faisal.

Tensions have increased after Iran launched a number of attacks on Gulf countries, including areas near strategic maritime routes. However, Ambassador Faisal stressed that the security of pilgrims, including those from Indonesia who form the largest group, is not disrupted.

On that occasion, Ambassador Faisal also reiterated his condemnation of Iran’s actions, which are considered to worsen regional stability and ignore diplomacy.

“Iran continues to carry out attacks without heed to calls for dialogue championed by Saudi Arabia or other Gulf countries,” he revealed.

Saudi Arabia, he continued, welcomes the stance of the international community which, through UN Security Council Resolution Number 2817, urges Iran to halt attacks and actions that increase escalation.

“The world sees what is happening and urges Iran to stop its actions,” he said.

When asked whether this tension has the potential to trigger firmer steps from Riyadh, Ambassador Faisal emphasised that the security of Saudi territory is a priority.

“If there is a threat to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, of course Saudi will not remain silent,” he asserted.
