Saudi Air Defences Intercept Drones Targeting Oil Facilities

Saudi Arabia’s air defences intercepted and destroyed a number of drones attempting to attack oil facilities in the eastern region of the country. In a statement on social media platform X, Official Spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defence Turki Al Maliki said on Tuesday that the attack was launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by “Iran-backed” militias. Al Maliki reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its territory and resources, and stressed that the kingdom reserves the right to retaliate. The report marked the second consecutive day of reports of Saudi Arabia successfully intercepting attacks from Iraqi territory. The Ministry of Defence said on Monday that the kingdom’s air defences had intercepted a number of drones launched from Iraqi territory that sought to target oil facilities.
