MINA — Saudi Arabia’sNational Meteorological Centre (NCM) has urged Hajj pilgrims to follow prevention guidelines, especially between 11am and 3pm, to mitigate the effects of high temperatures at holy sites. NCM spokesperson Hussein Al-Qahtani stated that weather and temperature conditions are continuously monitored via a network of observation stations across the holy sites. He emphasised that this ensures accurate meteorological data for relevant authorities, supporting decision-making to enhance pilgrim safety and welfare. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has urged pilgrims to take preventive measures against heat-related health risks, particularly during peak hours, according to Saudi Gazette. The ministry highlighted that preventing heat exhaustion begins with using umbrellas while moving, adequate hydration, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. It also stressed the importance of recognising heat exhaustion symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and excessive sweating, and advised pilgrims to immediately visit the nearest health facility or seek medical assistance if experiencing these symptoms. The ministry further emphasised compliance with health guidelines, stating that pilgrims’ awareness and adherence are crucial for maintaining their health and safety while performing religious rituals in a safe environment.
