Satunet debuts WAP site

JAKARTA (JP): News portal Satunet Group announced on Monday the launching of its wireless application protocol (WAP) site to allow Internet users to obtain summaries of news and information available on its websites via mobile phone.

CEO Robert Eskapa said the group expected to tap into the growing domestic market of WAP users, estimated at about 1,000 by applying the site for existing website users.

"We see extremely fast growth in the usage of WAP-enabled mobile phones in Indonesia. Satunet Group has effectively responded by becoming the first websites network here with WAP- enabled access," he said in a statement.

The group's new WAP site, www.SatuWAP.com.wml -- which offers condensed breaking news as well as information on financial news, television and theater programs and a daily horoscope -- can now be accessed using any WAP-enabled mobile phones. (cst)
