Satria Muda suspend Karl Gloria until end of season for indiscipline

Jakarta — The management of Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung has officially suspended the young player Karl Gloria from the team until the end of the IBL 2026 season after Karl was deemed to have engaged in indiscipline that breaches the club’s ethics and core principles which Satria Muda has long upheld. Technical Director Youbel Sondakh, in a formal statement released in Jakarta on Friday, said the decision followed an internal evaluation process and intensive dialogue between the player, the coaches, and the management. The club acknowledged there would be technical consequences for the team’s strength, but the integrity of the organisation remains the top priority above the interests of individual players. “Honestly, the management regrets this occurrence very much because we see that Karl is a player with the potential and the talent to become a great player in the future,” Youbel said. He emphasised that the sanction was not carried out unilaterally but based on principles that the club cannot compromise. Discipline standards are seen as the fundamental foundation for Satria Muda in building a competitive team to chase the championship in the top tier of national basketball. Head Coach Djordje Jovicic also shared his technical perspective. According to Jovicic, discipline issues have a direct and significant impact on the team’s dynamics and preparations amid the league’s tight competition. “Basketball is built on trust, responsibility, and mutual respect,” the Serbian coach explained. Jovicic added that the decision regarding Karl Gloria had been communicated directly to all squad members as a reminder of the importance of obeying team rules. “My message is clear: we respect one another, obey the rules, and stay focused on our shared goal,” the Serbian coach asserted. The Satria Muda management also expressed appreciation for Karl Gloria’s contributions over two seasons with the club. Although he has been subjected to a heavy sanction, the management hopes Karl can learn valuable lessons and continue his professional career in Indonesian basketball in the future.
