The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has issued special regulations governing night entertainment venue activities during Ramadan 1447 Hijriyah. However, several entertainment establishments continue to breach these rules.

Satriadi Gunawan, Head of the Jakarta Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP), stated that his office had conducted inspections of 690 entertainment venues by Thursday, 12 March 2026. From these inspections, 21 businesses were issued examination notices (BAP) for violating applicable regulations, particularly regarding operating hours.

“We have conducted inspections at approximately 690 entertainment venues during Ramadan. Around 21 entertainment establishments have been given warnings for breaching the operating hours determined by the tourism authority,” said Satriadi in a press statement in Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

He explained that Satpol PP prioritises a graduated enforcement approach in implementing regulations. This includes issuing initial warnings to business operators who violate the rules.

However, the authority will not remain passive if business owners ignore the warnings issued. Satriadi emphasised that his team is prepared to take closure measures if necessary.

“We warn them first. If they remain non-compliant, then we proceed with closure, but they have not been obstinate and have adjusted the next day,” said Satriadi.

He noted that officers have also conducted socialisation campaigns with business operators to ensure compliance with the operating hour regulations in effect during Ramadan. As a result, relatively few businesses have violated the rules.

“Indeed, before that we conducted socialisation with business operators to ensure compliance with the closure regulations that have been established,” Satriadi explained.
