Satpol PP DKI Apologises Over Viral Incident Involving Ice Cream Vendors at CFD Bundaran HI

On Sunday, 24 May 2026, several Satpol PP officers were seen intercepting ice cream vendors riding bicycles. Vendors wearing red vests were observed trying to break free from the officers.

“In response to social media videos regarding enforcement against ice cream vendors in the HBKB area, Satpol PP DKI Jakarta apologises for the discomfort and concern experienced by the public,” Satriadi said when contacted on Sunday.

Satriadi noted the incident has drawn public attention and serves as feedback for Satpol PP. However, he reminded that the main CFD routes are not designated for selling.

“We also inform the public that based on Car-Free Day (HBKB) regulations, selling activities are prohibited along the main routes to maintain public order, comfort, and safety for those engaged in activities or exercise,” he added.

Satriadi stated that Satpol PP’s enforcement efforts will prioritise a humane approach, effective communication, and persuasive tactics. This incident will be used as a learning point for his team.

“This incident will be evaluated to ensure all personnel carry out their duties more wisely, professionally, and with empathy towards the public,” he added.

Satriadi confirmed Satpol PP is committed to improving its approach to be more humane, as a demonstration of concern for the public.

“We thank the public for their criticism, suggestions, and attention as part of collective efforts to improve public services,” he added.
