Satpol PP Demolishes Hundreds of Illegal Kiosks Along Cianjur's Puncak Route

The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) together with a joint task force demolished hundreds of illegal kiosks at the Segar Alam rest area and along the Puncak route in Cianjur. A total of 160 illegal kiosks were razed using heavy machinery and sledgehammers.

Traders initially resisted the demolition, which was carried out on Saturday morning (13/6/2026). Scuffles between Satpol PP officers and traders were unavoidable, though the crowd of traders gradually chose to retreat.

The traders could only weep as the kiosks and buildings they had occupied for years were torn down. The kiosks were demolished suddenly.

“Before the closure, we were asked to sign something, but we didn’t know what it contained. Suddenly, a notice arrived saying the demolition would be carried out today. That’s why there was resistance from the traders earlier,” said Yanti (49), a trader at the Segar Alam rest area.

She said the government has also not provided clarity regarding compensation or relocation for the traders who rely on their businesses to survive.

“We demand that the government restore our livelihoods. Whether through relocation or another clearer solution, not just compensation,” she said.

Cianjur student Agus Rama also lamented the demolition of kiosks along the Puncak Route, particularly in the Segar Alam rest area. According to him, the traders held land-use permits from the relevant authorities.

“Now they are suddenly deemed illegal and demolished. It is quite regrettable. The traders also complained to us about the situation,” he said.

Moreover, Agus revealed that some traders have instalments or credit with banks that must be paid each month, while their business premises have been destroyed.
