Satpol PP Demolishes 25 Illegal Structures in Depok, 10 Suspected 'Lap Coffee' Venues

The Depok Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has demolished 25 illegal structures in Tapos, Depok, West Java. Of these, 10 are suspected of being ‘kopi pangku’ venues. The enforcement action against the semi-permanent buildings was carried out this afternoon at the Cimanggis Toll Exit in Tapos. The operation was conducted jointly with the Depok Metro Police, Military District Command 05/08, the Depok District Attorney’s Office, the Depok Transportation Agency, and Tapos District officials. ‘Yes, today’s enforcement was carried out according to standard operating procedures. There were approximately 25 illegal structures, buildings that violated pavement and water channel regulations. Alhamdulillah, everything proceeded in a conducive manner,’ said Raden Agus Mohammad, Head of Public Order and Community Protection at the Depok Satpol PP, to reporters on Thursday (23/7/2026). Agus stated that 10 of the illegal structures were suspected of being ‘kopi pangku’ locations, which are coffee stalls where waitresses offer patrons the service of sitting on their laps. Kopi pangku typically operates at night with dim lighting and loud music, and is often suspected of being a front for covert prostitution. ‘Approximately 10 locations are suspected, allegedly the places you asked about. Ten that are suspected, where trucks rest and pull over on Emerald Boulevard,’ he said. Agus explained that the semi-permanent buildings at the suspected ‘kopi pangku’ site had been subject to enforcement since 2024. This latest action targeted structures built on state land and over waterways. ‘We previously conducted enforcement in 2024, but not on this scale. Now we are clearing not only illegal buildings but also structures violating drainage channels, state land, and pavements. Through this collaboration, we aim to make it comfortable for pedestrians,’ he said. Agus confirmed that his agency will conduct routine patrols following the clearance to prevent the illegal structures from being rebuilt by violators. ‘We will have post-enforcement activities, God willing, in the coming weeks. We will conduct routine patrols, mobilising Satpol PP and the BKO teams in Tapos and Cimanggis Districts,’ he added.
