Satpol PP crackdown on illegal alcohol sellers in Tebet and Kebayoran Baru

Jakarta — The South Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) cracked down on several sellers of alcoholic beverages of various brands at locations across Tebet and Kebayoran Baru districts. ‘This operation is a crackdown on the distribution of alcoholic drinks sold without a licence and in breach of applicable regulations,’ said Nanto Dwi Subekti, head of South Jakarta Satpol PP, in Jakarta on Sunday. Nanto said the operation was conducted to curb sales of alcohol without permits and to maintain public order during the holy month of Ramadan. In Tebet, officers seized 231 bottles of alcoholic beverages from several locations. The seized bottles comprised various types and brands. ‘The items seized include Anggur Buah (fruit wine) 126 bottles, Panther Stout 24 bottles, Singaraja Bali Pale Ale 12 bottles, Rajawali Pros cans 48 bottles, Tropical Naipa 4 bottles, Somaek Soju Bombir 5 bottles, Angker 6 bottles, and Rajawali 6 bottles,’ he said. Meanwhile, in Kebayoran Baru, officers seized 93 bottles of alcohol sold illegally. ‘In Kebayoran Baru we seized 93 bottles of alcohol, including Intisari 45 bottles and Apidin 45 bottles, and several other brands,’ said Nanto. Officers then documented the business operators and issued seizure reports. All evidence, hundreds of bottles, were subsequently secured at the South Jakarta Satpol PP warehouse. In addition to the seizure, Nanto said, they asked shop owners to sign a statement promising not to sell alcohol without a licence. Going forward, South Jakarta Satpol PP will continue periodic surveillance to ensure business operators comply with regulations. ‘Business operators found selling alcohol without a licence will be documented and asked to sign a statement not to repeat their actions,’ Nanto added.
