Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) has once again enforced regulations against parking and illegal street vendors (PKL) in the Glodok Chinatown area, Tamansari, on Thursday.

In the enforcement action, officers took firm measures, including a tyre clamp removal operation (OCP) on two-wheeled vehicles parked haphazardly on the sidewalks.

The Head of the Security and Order Section of West Jakarta Satpol PP, Edison Butar Butar, stated that the enforcement was carried out in accordance with Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2007 on public order, particularly regarding the use of sidewalks.

“We are enforcing the rules that public facilities, including sidewalks, must be kept clean for pedestrians. We are striving to create a comfortable environment for the community, which is why we are conducting this enforcement today,” Edison told reporters at the location.

Additionally, the enforcement aims to restore the function of sidewalks for pedestrians and maintain the city’s aesthetics.

“To create comfort for pedestrians in public facilities and to foster the beauty of the city, the city’s aesthetics,” he said.

According to him, this is not the first time such enforcement has been carried out, but over the past two months, his team has routinely monitored the area.

“Alhamdulillah, over the past two months, the trend of illegal parking has decreased. It’s not like it was two months ago; it has actually had quite an impact,” Edison remarked.

Besides the Glodok area, other prone spots for sidewalk violations in the Tamansari region include Mangga Besar and Kota Tua Jakarta.

He hopes that the public will help maintain order by not misusing public facilities.

“We hope it stays like this; this is what we must maintain forever. Together with the community, we must support each other to ensure comfort is sustained,” he concluded.
