Satpol PP Confirms Street Vendors Banned from Selling at Sudirman-Thamrin Car-Free Day
Satriadi stated when contacted on Sunday (24 May 2026): ‘We also inform the public that, according to the regulations governing the Car-Free Day (HBKB), selling activities are prohibited along the main HBKB route to maintain public order, comfort, and safety for those engaging in activities or exercise.’
Satriadi added that Satpol PP’s enforcement efforts would prioritise a humane approach, good communication, and persuasive tactics, with the incident serving as a review for him and his team. He said, ‘This incident will be used as a basis for evaluation so that all personnel can carry out their duties more wisely, professionally, and with greater empathy towards the public.’
Satriadi pledged that Satpol PP would continue to improve its approach to be more humane, stating this was a demonstration of concern for the public. He added, ‘We thank the public for their criticism, suggestions, and attention as part of our collective commitment to better public services.’
Previously, on Sunday (24 May 2026), Satpol PP officers were seen intercepting ice cream vendors on bicycles. The vendors, wearing red vests, were seen resisting the officers’ attempts to stop them. In response to social media videos regarding the enforcement against ice cream vendors in the HBKB area, the Jakarta Provincial Satpol PP has issued an apology for the inconvenience and unease experienced by the public.
