A number of unlicensed businesses in Nusa Penida have been closed by the Klungkung Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) throughout 2026. The details include six villas, two padel courts, and one modern retail store. All nine establishments were identified as violating Klungkung Regional Regulations (Perda).

The Head of Klungkung Satpol PP and Firefighters, I Dewa Putu Suwarbawa, revealed that the temporary closure of these nine tourism-related businesses took place between January and April 2026. The majority were closed because they had not obtained Building Approval (PBG).

“This is the result of the enforcement actions we have carried out in 2026. We have temporarily closed all of them while providing time for entrepreneurs to process their permits. If they continue to ignore this, we will not hesitate to proceed with demolition,” Suwarbula told detikBali on Monday (18/5/2025).

Suwarbawa emphasised that the authorities are not immediately implementing permanent closures. Instead, they are allowing owners time to regularise their permits in accordance with applicable regulations. However, he asserted that if owners fail to comply with the given timeframe, the authorities are committed to taking firm action. “For entrepreneurs who remain defiant, we will take strict action as per the Regent’s instructions,” Suwarbawa stated.

The nine businesses closed in Nusa Penida include:

  • Tula-Tula Villa: Located in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida. Construction was halted by Satpol PP Klungkung on 30 April 2026, as the owner could not produce a Building Approval (PBG).

  • PT Mitra Yash Grup Villa: Currently under construction in Kutampi Kaler Village, Nusa Penida. Operations were suspended on 14 April 2026 due to lack of PBG.

  • Prodena Group Villas: Located across three sites in Batu Nunggul, Tanglad, and Kutampi Kaler. These were temporarily closed on 14 April 2026 for lacking PBG.

  • The Sand Ceningan Villa: Located in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida. Closed on 30 March 2026 during its construction phase due to lack of PBG.

  • La Bianca Villa: Located in Lembongan Village. The site contains both completed and ongoing construction. Satpol PP Klungkung took enforcement action on 22 April 2022 due to lack of PBG.

  • Private Villa: A private villa owned by a local resident in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida, was closed on 22 April 2026 for lacking PBG.

  • Circle K: This modern retail outlet in Batu Nunggul Village, Nusa Penida, was closed on 25 February 2026 for violating regional regulations regarding networked retail businesses, specifically due to its proximity to a traditional market. The owner has since converted the business into a local minimarket.

  • Jungle Padel Club: Located in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida. Construction was temporarily halted on 22 April 2026 as the owner lacked PBG.

  • Lembongan Padel Club: Also located in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida. This facility was sealed on 22 April 2026 for the same reason: lack of PBG.
