A joint task force comprising officers from Customs and Excise, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Indonesian National Police, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces conducted a raid on the circulation of illegal cigarettes at several shops in Bogor City. The operation led to the confiscation of thousands of cigarette sticks of various brands.

“The total amount secured was 724 packs, or 14,480 sticks of illegal cigarettes, from several brands,” said Asep Permana, Head of the Satpol PP Law Enforcement Division for Bogor City, on Thursday (18/6/2026).

Asep stated that the raid was carried out by Customs as a follow-up to public complaints regarding the widespread circulation of illegal cigarettes in a number of grocery shops in Bogor City. The operation involved personnel from Customs, Satpol PP, the police, and several members from the 0606 Bogor City Military District Command.

“Two grocery shops were visited, the first a shop in Bantar Kemang, East Bogor District, and the second on Batara Street, Ciluer Village, North Bogor District. The total amount secured was 724 packs, or 14,480 sticks, of various illegal cigarette brands,” Asep said.

“The seller in East Bogor was given education because it was their first offence. Meanwhile, the one in North Bogor was taken in by Customs officers; if I am not mistaken, this was already the third time they have been caught,” he added.

Subsequently, the seller along with the evidence of over ten thousand sticks of illegal cigarettes from the raid were detained at the Bogor Type A Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMP A Bogor). The seller was subject to a fine of Rp 29.9 million.

“As a result of this activity, an administrative sanction in the form of an excise fine was issued amounting to Rp 29,952,000, and the goods were placed under detention,” said Raditya Ishak, a representative of KPPBC TMP A Bogor, when contacted separately.
