Sarwono's mother dies at 92

JAKARTA (JP): Mrs. Sulmini Surawisastra, the mother of State
Minister of Environment Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, died of old age at
Ongkomulyo Hospital here on Friday. She was 92.

President Soeharto, Vice President Try Sutrisno and his wife
Tuti Try Sutrisno, former vice president Sudharmono as well as a
number of cabinet ministers paid their last respects to the
deceased who was laid in state at Sarwono's house on Jalan
Denpasar Raya, South Jakarta.

Sulmini was buried at Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery yesterday
morning.

Born in February 10, 1904, in Cirebon, West Java, Sulmini
dedicated a great deal of her life for charity and education. She
once taught at Kartini School in Jakarta and managed orphanages.

From her marriage with the late M. Taslim Kusumaatmadja,
Sulmini had three children: former foreign minister Mochtar
Kusumaatmadja, Sarwono and daughter Ade Sudaryati Yushar. (swe)
