Sarolangun Police Foil Drug Transaction Worth Rp18 Billion

The Jambi Regional Police, through the swift action of the Sarolangun Police’s Rajawali Team, successfully thwarted a narcotics transaction worth approximately Rp18 billion. The interception took place on Thursday afternoon (11/6) at a petrol station in Bernai Village, Sarolangun District, along the Trans-Sumatra highway. Armed with a complete assignment letter, the Rajawali Team stopped a silver Toyota Raize minibus with registration number B 1607 ROF, which was suspected of carrying drugs. The vehicle matched the description reported by the public to the Sarolangun Police early that morning, indicating it would be used for a drug transaction in the Sarolangun area. During interrogation witnessed by many residents, the two young men in the vehicle admitted to carrying narcotics stored in the rear luggage compartment. Upon inspection, the team discovered several plastic packages containing 53,000 ecstasy pills and 897 etomidate units. Sarolangun Police Chief Adjunct Commissioner Wendi Oktariansyah confirmed the arrest. Through the Head of the Narcotics Unit, First Inspector Fatur Rachman, he stated that the two types of illicit substances seized have an estimated value of around Rp18 billion. The successful interdiction is believed to have potentially saved approximately 950,000 residents from the influence of drugs. Information obtained indicates that the tens of thousands of ecstasy pills and nearly 900 etomidate units were transported by the two suspects from the Bengkalis Regency area in Riau Province, destined for the Singkut area in Sarolangun Regency, near the Jambi-South Sumatra border.
