Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives, Muhammad Sarmuji, has stressed the importance of a thorough evaluation of the national railway safety system to prevent a repeat of the accident involving the KRL Commuter Line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train in Bekasi.

“This incident must serve as an important lesson. A total evaluation of the operational system, safety management, and supervision must be carried out immediately to ensure such events do not recur,” Sarmuji said in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The Golkar Party Faction in the House of Representatives is urging all relevant parties to act swiftly, transparently, and accountably in addressing the impacts of this accident and thoroughly investigating its causes.

Sarmuji also expressed deep concern and sorrow over the accident that occurred at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday night (27/4).

He extended full support to all victims, whether injured or psychologically affected by the incident. He hoped that the victims would receive the best possible care and recover as quickly as possible.

“We convey our sincere sympathy and support to the victims. Their safety and recovery must be the primary concern of all parties,” he stated.

He emphasised that the government must be maximally present in providing assistance to the victims and their affected families, in the form of medical treatment, compensation, or psychosocial support.

“The government must ensure that all victims and their families receive maximum and comprehensive assistance,” said Sarmuji.

He also requested that the evacuation and rescue processes be carried out quickly, accurately, and well-coordinated, prioritising the safety of everyone on site.

“The rescue process must be carried out to the maximum with solid coordination between agencies. Every second is precious in an emergency situation like this,” he said.
