Sarinah Pedestrian Overpass Officially Opened Following Revitalisation; Pavement to Be Widened
The newly completed revitalised Sarinah pedestrian overpass has been officially opened. The pavement surrounding the pedestrian overpass will be widened.
During a visit by detikcom to the location on Monday (2 March 2026), the pavement opposite the Thamrin Halte appeared narrow in the area around the Sarinah pedestrian overpass lift. Pedestrians were observed descending to the road to pass beneath the pedestrian overpass.
“This is stage one; stage two, which is the ultimate outcome following the pedestrian reinstatement to be carried out by the MRT, will take place around May,” said PT Transjakarta managing director Welfizon Yuda to journalists following the official opening of the Sarinah pedestrian overpass on Monday (2 March 2026).
“So in May there will be pavement widening of approximately 2.6 metres, so that pedestrian access will subsequently have more spacious area,” he added.
Welfizon also stated that the budget for the Sarinah pedestrian overpass revitalisation came from PT Transjakarta. The construction was packaged together with the halte.
“Yes, so the budget uses corporate funds from TJ, which we are using for this construction. And for colleagues to know, this pedestrian overpass construction is actually one integrated unit with the halte revitalisation,” he explained.
Welfizon noted that the pedestrian overpass revitalisation had indeed been delayed. He stated that national agendas caused the construction schedule to slip.
“This was delayed because there were several national agendas, so we only carried out the construction later. The lift has already been included in the previous halte revitalisation package, so we are essentially just carrying out the installation,” he said.
