Sarinah Launches Free Mudik Programme for Returnees to Central and East Java in 2026
JAKARTA — PT Sarinah, through its Free Mudik BUMN 2026 programme, has dispatched returnees to Central Java and East Java.
On Tuesday, 17 March 2026, a total of 91 returnees were sent using two buses destined for Yogyakarta and Surabaya.
The send-off took place from two locations: the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area in Jakarta for those heading to Yogyakarta, and the Sarinah Thamrin Building for those heading to Surabaya.
Sarinah’s Chief Executive Officer, Raisha Syarfuan, stated that the programme is part of the company’s efforts to support safe and comfortable travel for returnees during the mudik season.
“Through this programme, Sarinah hopes to help the public undertake their homecoming journey with greater peace of mind and comfort, so that the moment of gathering together with family can be experienced more meaningfully,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
Beyond the free mudik programme, to expand its social impact, Sarinah has also organised various activities throughout Ramadan involving the community.
These include Ngabuburit Ceria (Joyful Breaking of the Fast), which was attended by over 200 primary school students in Central Jakarta, as well as Bestie Share Bestie Care, which distributed over 100 food assistance packages to residents in the vicinity of the company’s operational areas.
“Through this series of programmes, Sarinah is committed to continuing to be more closely present with the community, not only as a retail and cultural centre, but also as part of a shared journey,” she concluded.
