Sari Yuliati Praises B50 Biodiesel Implementation as a Step Towards Energy Independence

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sari Yuliati, has expressed appreciation and support for the implementation of Biodiesel B50, which was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. The launch is part of a strategy to achieve national energy independence. Sari stated that the policy is an important milestone in strengthening energy security while driving economic transformation based on domestic resources. According to her, the implementation of Biodiesel B50 is not only an energy sector policy but also a step that impacts the strengthening of national industry, the improvement of oil palm farmers’ welfare, the reduction of dependence on fossil fuel imports, and the creation of added value for the Indonesian economy. “We give high appreciation to President Prabowo Subianto and all levels of government for their commitment and courage in accelerating the implementation of Biodiesel B50. This is a policy that shows the direction of national development is increasingly oriented towards independence, sustainability, and national interest,” Sari said in a statement on Saturday (11/7/2026). Sari further explained that the utilisation of biodiesel-based energy is proof that Indonesia can optimise its own natural resource potential to meet national energy needs. As one of the world’s largest palm oil producers, Indonesia has a comparative advantage that must be maximised to strengthen the nation’s position amidst global geopolitical dynamics and energy market uncertainty. Sari emphasised that the Biodiesel B50 policy also has an impact on foreign exchange savings. With the increased use of palm-based fuel, the need for diesel imports can be significantly reduced, thereby strengthening the trade balance and national economic stability. “In a global situation full of uncertainty, energy security is one of the main foundations of state sovereignty. Therefore, the development of biodiesel must be seen as a long-term strategic investment for Indonesia’s future,” she asserted. Sari also encouraged the implementation of Biodiesel B50 to be carried out gradually and measurably. This must be supported by the readiness of distribution infrastructure, product quality improvement, strengthening of research and technological innovation, as well as synergy between the government, state-owned enterprises, industry players, academics, and the community. She stressed the importance of maintaining the sustainability of the Indonesian palm oil industry through good governance practices, increasing farmer productivity, and applying sustainability principles so that Indonesian biodiesel becomes more competitive in the international market. Sari emphasised that the DPR RI is ready to provide support through its legislative, budgetary, and oversight functions so that the government’s strategic programmes in the energy sector can run optimally and provide real benefits to the community. “Energy independence is part of the great aspiration towards a sovereign, advanced, and competitive Indonesia. The implementation of Biodiesel B50 is a concrete step to realise that vision. We in the DPR RI will continue to support policies that are in the national interest, strengthen energy security, and improve the welfare of the Indonesian people,” concluded Sari.
