Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Economic and Financial Coordination, Sari Yuliati, has affirmed her commitment to championing the development of the agricultural sector and rural infrastructure on Lombok Island. This commitment was demonstrated through her support for the implementation of the 2026 Accelerated Programme for Improving Irrigation Water Management (P3TGAI), which has seen a significant increase compared to the previous year. The statement was made by Sari Yuliati while attending the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement and Integrity Pact between the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, through the Nusa Tenggara I River Basin Centre, and the Water User Farmer Association (P3A) groups in Mataram on Tuesday. The legislator for the West Nusa Tenggara II electoral district also congratulated all P3A groups designated as recipients of the 2026 P3TGAI programme. She stated that the programme is a mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility to increase agricultural productivity and the welfare of farmers on Lombok Island. “This programme is not merely about building irrigation channels, but is a long-term investment to support food security and improve farmers’ welfare. Water is the primary need for agriculture, so the existence of a good irrigation network will provide certainty for farmers in managing their land,” said Sari Yuliati in her remarks in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. She stressed that the signing of the cooperation agreement and integrity pact was not just an administrative formality, but a form of shared commitment to ensure that all programme implementation runs transparently, accountably, and on target. According to her, every state budget allocated through the P3TGAI Programme must produce tangible benefits in the form of improved irrigation network quality that directly impacts the community’s agricultural productivity. “The success of the agricultural sector is highly dependent on the availability of adequate water. Well-functioning irrigation will increase the cropping index, maintain land productivity, and strengthen community food security,” she said. Besides providing benefits for the agricultural sector, she also explained that the P3TGAI Programme has a broad economic impact because it is implemented through a community self-management mechanism. In this scheme, P3A groups become the main actors in development, thereby creating jobs and driving the village economy. “The involvement of local labour and the use of local resources will have a multiplier effect on the community’s economy. Therefore, I invite all P3A groups to maintain the quality of work and uphold integrity in programme implementation,” she asserted. On the occasion, Sari Yuliati also outlined the achievements of her efforts in bringing various development programmes to the people of Lombok. The number of P3TGAI Programmes successfully championed in 2026 increased drastically to 135 locations compared to the previous year, which totalled only 19 locations. “There has been an increase of approximately 610 percent. This shows that we continue to fight for the aspirations of the Lombok community so that they receive greater attention from the central government,” she revealed. Not only in the irrigation sector, various other development programmes were also successfully championed, ranging from the Regional Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development Programme (PISEW), Community-Based Sanitation (SANIMAS), Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation Provision (Pamsimas), to various other community empowerment programmes. She highlighted a significant increase in the decent housing assistance programme. Whereas in the previous year only 350 housing units were successfully fought for, in 2026 the number increased to 2,410 units, a rise of about 600 percent. “This increase is a tangible form of our commitment to fighting for the basic needs of the community, whether in agriculture, infrastructure, sanitation, or housing,” she said. As Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives overseeing economic and financial coordination, Sari Yuliati affirmed that she will continue to oversee various development programmes so that their benefits can be felt directly by the people of West Nusa Tenggara, particularly Lombok Island. She also invited village heads, P3A administrators, and all stakeholders to jointly safeguard the success of the programmes that have been championed to provide maximum impact for the community. “Development must be felt by the people. Therefore, I will continue to fight for more programmes for Lombok Island and its surroundings and ensure that every programme truly touches the needs of the community,” she concluded.
