Sari Husada to expand market

YOGYAKARTA (JP): Infant skim milk powder producer PT Sari Husada said on Wednesday it would boost production capacity and expand its overseas market this year.

Sari Husada's president Dwiyatno Siswosumarto said the company, with a new German-made production machine worth DM 1.2 million, would boost its capacity from 5,840 tons of milk powder per annum to 40,000 tons.

He said the company target to export more of its products to the Asia Pacific market was to compensate for plunging local demand.

With the help of Royal Numico NV of the Netherlands, Sari Husada exported 7.5 million cans of infant milk powder worth US$7.84 million to Iran last year.

The company reported a 6.7 percent increase in total sales, reaching Rp 24 billion in 1998, with a net profit for the same period recorded at Rp 11.8 billion. (23/cst)
