Sardjito Hospital Halts Placement of Medical Resident Who Went Viral for Insulting BPJS Patient

RSUP Dr Sardjito has finally halted the clinical placement of a female student who made sarcastic comments on social media regarding BPJS Kesehatan patient Yurizal Tri Chaerawan. Yurizal was the patient whose post complained about having to wait eight hours for an inpatient room and who passed away several days later. A ‘stase’ is a clinical rotation period that must be undertaken by medical, dental, or nursing students (known as junior doctors) at hospitals, community health centres, or clinics.

Manager of Legal and Public Relations at RSUP Dr Sardjito, Banu Hermawan, stated that the Specialist Medical Education Programme (PPDS) student, named Elda Putri Rahardini, was currently undergoing a clinical placement at Dr Sardjito Hospital. As a result of this case, Elda’s placement at Dr Sardjito has been terminated. ‘Sardjito’s authority is to stop the person’s placement. The placement is a clinical practice at Sardjito. We have stopped it. However, the authority to deactivate her student status lies with UGM,’ Banu explained when contacted on Thursday (6 August 2026).

Banu said this step was the result of coordination between the Dr Sardjito Hospital team and UGM, referred to as the ‘Dignified Education’ team. The termination of Elda’s clinical placement is the first step taken after the investigation process was completed. ‘We deactivated and stopped her placement as the first step. That was done yesterday. As soon as the incident occurred, we immediately put her on hold,’ Banu explained. ‘We do not want Elda to be in the clinical setting at Sardjito. We returned her to UGM and UGM responded positively. In a case like this, we stop her education process pending further investigation within this Dignified Education framework,’ he stressed.

It was previously reported that the account @erudarahaadini, belonging to Elda Putri Rahardini, went viral for a comment that insulted a BPJS patient who had complained about waiting eight hours. The account was alleged to belong to a healthcare worker at RSUP Dr Sardjito. However, RSUP Dr Sardjito later denied that Elda was an employee. The account wrote, ‘PP nya kayak orang Have tapi aslinya Haven’t kah? haven’t some brain cells,’ which translates roughly to ‘Your profile picture looks like a wealthy person, but in reality you’re not. It’s like you have no brain cells.’ The comment immediately drew negative reactions from netizens. One Threads account named @sunyidibaliksenyum even revealed the identity of the account holder, writing, ‘Digital footprint, welcome to WALL OF FAME. Let’s start with the first one, Dr. Elda Putri Rahardini, M.D., Ph.D., an alumna of UGM and recipient of an LPDP scholarship. Hope you become wiser after this, doctor.’
