Sarce to compete in Athens Olympics

JAKARTA: Sarce Aronggaer, who contributed three gold medals for the Indonesian team at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games, will be heading to the Athens Olympics after the Indonesian Rowing Association (Podsi) was awarded a wildcard by its international counterpart, the ICF.

Podsi general secretary Budiman told The Jakarta Post on Monday that he received an email from the International Canoeing Federation saying that Indonesia had been awarded the wildcard.

Sarce will compete in the 500-meter singles kayak. Her inclusion increases the number of Indonesian athletes traveling to the Olympics to 39, with 14 sports being represented in all. -- JP
