SAR Team Searches for Fisherman Missing in Nusa Penida Waters

A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is searching for a fisherman from the Pelindo Abua group, named I Wayan Suta, who has not returned from fishing in the waters off Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali, on Friday 6 March. According to a report from the claimant named Wayan Suteja, the estimated location of the incident is about 3 nautical miles away. It is stated that I Wayan Suta started fishing at around 05:00 local time. His jukung was located by the vessel Rayfish Fins (Arjuna 2) and then towed toward Sanur. ‘Our report was received at 16:20 Wita; according to information the victim was wearing army-pattern clothing,’ said I Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office. From his identity card, Wayan Suta is a resident of Sanur, Denpasar, living at Jalan Warmadewa, Semawang. In follow-up to the report, Denpasar Search and Rescue Office dispatched 3 personnel stationed on the KN SAR Arjuna 229 using an RBB. They departed from Benoa Port at 16:40 Wita. On-duty officers also coordinated with KUPP Nusa Penida, the Pelindo Abu Fishermen Group, and other related agencies. During the search, winds were from the east at up to 15 knots. By 19:00 Wita, the joint SAR had not located the victim. The SAR operation is planned to continue on Saturday morning, 7 March.
