Mataram (ANTARA) - The search and rescue (SAR) operation for victims of the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry fire in the Lombok Strait continues, with the joint SAR team now focusing on locating five passengers reported missing as of Thursday (13/8).

Head of the Mataram SAR Office, Muhamad Hariyadi, stated that the Mataram SAR Office, together with the Denpasar SAR Office, is expanding the search area. The operation utilises main equipment including the KN SAR Arjuna vessel and a Mataram RIB 02.

“As of Thursday (13/8), a total of 212 victims have been evacuated, with details of 211 survivors and one fatality,” he explained.

Hariyadi added that the joint SAR team is conducting sweeps from the incident location towards the southwest. In addition to direct searches, the team is also broadcasting alerts to ships transiting the Lombok Strait.

“We are also instructing passing vessels to provide initial assistance or immediately report to the command post if they find any victims,” he said.

The joint operation involves synergy from various parties, including the Mataram SAR Office, Denpasar SAR Office, Lanal Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, KSOP Lembar, Lembar KKP, Lembar KP3, Mataram City Hospital, West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Hospital, West Lombok Health Office, Jasa Raharja, and SGi Air Bali.
