JAKARTA – The chairman of the Indonesian Umrah and Hajj Organisers Association (Sapuhi), Syam Resfiadi, has stated that the conflict between Iran and Israel has not yet had an impact on flights carrying umrah pilgrims. He expressed hope that airlines operating umrah flights will not cancel their services.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), to date we have not heard of any Sapuhi member (umrah travel agency) whose flights have been cancelled,” said Syam in a message to Republika.co.id on Saturday evening, 28 February 2025.

Syam reported that he is only aware of Scoot Airlines (a Singaporean carrier) having cancelled some flights. However, he expressed hope that other airlines will not follow suit with cancellations.

He noted that the flight routes from Indonesia to Saudi Arabia are relatively distant from conflict zones, including Bahrain, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

“Hopefully there will be no cancellations,” said Syam.
