Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) Maman Abdurrahman stated that the Sapa UMKM service application is a government initiative to make it easier for MSMEs to manage permits and sell their products. “So the final stage will lead there (making Sapa UMKM an MSME marketplace),”. Maman said in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that the application is continuously being refined so that it can meet the needs of MSME players across Indonesia. The application is also being integrated with relevant ministries and agencies, such as the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) for halal certification and regional governments for home industry food production permits (PIRT). Once fully integrated, MSMEs will be able to use the application for various purposes, including managing permits, exchanging ideas with other business players, and as a marketplace. “When all our MSMEs are onboarded in the Sapa UMKM system, they will enjoy several facilities and services we provide before we enter the marketplace phase where they can sell,” he said. Maman confirmed that the features in Sapa UMKM are ready, but the rollout requires time and will be done in stages to ensure maximum results. He stressed that the ministry’s fundamental principle is to enable all of the country’s approximately 57 million MSMEs to utilise the application. “This is all done to support their business growth. For example, today not all MSMEs know that the Ministry of Trade has an export programme. But by joining Sapa UMKM, they will know because it is already there,” he added.
