SAPA Lansia Programme Promotes Elderly Empowerment Through Batik

The SAPA Lansia Vol. 2 programme has created an empowerment space for elderly citizens through the preservation of batik culture and the strengthening of intergenerational relationships during an event held at the Jatiasih Subdistrict Office in Bekasi City. SAPA Lansia Vol. 2 Chief Organiser Hafidah Anindya Priyambodo stated that the activity aims to provide a space for appreciation while increasing public awareness of the elderly’s role in preserving cultural heritage. “Through SAPA Lansia Vol. 2, we want to support the elderly to remain active, empowered, and appreciated by the community. We hope this activity not only provides a meaningful experience for participants but also raises public awareness about the importance of the elderly’s role in maintaining cultural values and strengthening intergenerational relationships,” Hafidah said in a statement on Monday. The series of activities began with a discussion featuring Bekasi Batik Community Chairman Barito Hakim Putra, Jatiasih Elderly School Principal Chan Widyatno, LSPR Community Development lecturer Rizka Septiana, and Hafidah Anindya Priyambodo. The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration between communities, educational institutions, and the public in creating an inclusive space so that the elderly can continue to work through various creative and educational activities. In addition, the organisers launched SELASIH Magazine, which contains documentation of activities and participants’ work as a form of appreciation for the elderly’s contributions during the programme. SELASIH Elderly School Principal Mami Chan said creative activities provide an opportunity for the elderly to continue developing their potential while interacting with the community. The organisers hope the activity can strengthen social interaction, creativity, and togetherness between the younger generation and the elderly, while encouraging the emergence of more sustainable empowerment programmes for the elderly age group.
