Sanur village focus of new book

SANUR: The Bali Purnati Center for the Arts in cooperation with
the Sanur Family of the Griya Gede Kiniten has published a new
book titled Sanur, The Birthplace of Bali Style.

Christopher Carlisle, Bruce Carpenter, Vaughan Hatch, Richard
Lewis, Lorca Lucras, Putu Evie Suyadnyani and Miranda Suryadjaya
co-authored the book.

Leonard Lueras, director of the publication division of the
Bali Purnati Arts Center, came up with the concept for the book
and photographed many of the images. Other photographers who
contributed their works are Jason Childs, Jan Lovett and Gil
Rosellini.

Sanur, The Birthplace of Bali Style is the third book
published by the Bali Purnati. Previous titles include Ubud is A
Mood, and I La Galigo, the creation epic of the Bugis people of
Makassar. The center will soon published its fourth book, Kuta
and Kuta.

The Sanur book contains essays on the History of Sanur, the
Art of Sanur, the Music and Dance of Sanur, Sanur Style, Voices
of Sanur,The Magic of Sanur and Surfing Sanur. --JP
