Santika offers fashion program

YOGYAKARTA: Santika Hotel Yogyakarta on Jl. Sudirman is offering a fashion luncheon program this weekend, featuring 15 designers from the local chapter of the Association of Indonesian Fashion Businesspeople and Designers.

Titled the Charisma of Yogyakarta Tradition, the program is scheduled to take place at the hotel's Pandansari Restaurant this Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.

"Among the designers taking part in the program are local designers with national reputations such as Ramadhani and batik designer Afif Syakur," Erma Wheny H, a Santika public relations officer, said.

Held in conjunction with the anniversary of the Yogyakarta municipality, which falls on July 7, the program is also meant as a way to promote Yogyakarta through the cultural richness of its fashion.

Among the clothes that will be presented at the show are modified versions of traditional kebaya (women's blouses) and casual batik dresses.

"The basic concept of the fashion show is mix and match," Wheny said, adding that a series of door prizes would also be given away, as well as a grand prize of a round-trip air ticket for Yogyakarta to Jakarta, plus a voucher for a free stay at the Santika Hotel Jakarta. -- JP
