Santai Seaplane Arrival Expands Banyuwangi's Tourism Reach

Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani stated that the presence of the premium air tourism service Santai Seaplane will expand Banyuwangi Regency’s tourism reach in East Java, whilst simultaneously taking tourism to a higher level. The amphibious aircraft operator has chosen Banyuwangi as the hub for exclusive charter flights offering an aerial tourism experience showcasing the natural panoramas of the regency at the eastern tip of Java. “We hope the presence of this premium air tourism service will further expand the reach of Banyuwangi tourism and demonstrate Banyuwangi’s readiness as a global tourism destination,” said Regent Ipuk in Banyuwangi on Thursday. Santai Seaplane is an amphibious aircraft operator and part of Seaplane Asia. Seaplane Asia Chief Executive Officer Denis Keller stated that the company has made Banyuwangi its first base in Indonesia to operate Santai Seaplane with a premium tourism concept, as Banyuwangi’s position is considered strategic for tourism business development. “Banyuwangi is a gateway connecting Java and Bali, so the opportunity to open up tourism connectivity is huge,” he noted. “Our seaplane concept is not merely a means of transport, but rather the experience during the flight becomes something interesting and special, and we want to bring more quality tourism with premium experiences to Banyuwangi,” he added. Denis further noted that besides serving premium tourism needs, Santai Seaplane can also be used for medical evacuation and cargo missions. Santai Seaplane CEO Wirmandi Sugriat stated that the service will begin operating in Banyuwangi next July and has currently established a home base at Banyuwangi Airport. “The aircraft type used is the Cessna Caravan 208 EX Amphibian, an aircraft type that is very robust in terms of safety and also offers very high comfort,” he said.
