Sanitation program in East Jakarta

JAKARTA (JP): East Jakarta Mayor Sudarsono has instructed his
subordinates, up to the sub-district level, to hold sanitation
activities every Sunday.

Eddy Suchla, spokesman of the mayoralty, told Antara that the
activities are needed to help motivate the public to pay more
attention to cleanliness in the surrounding areas.

Eddy Suchla said the sanitation activities are also intended
to enable the mayoralty to win the Adipura 1995 cleanliness award
given annually by the Governor.

Cleanliness activities will be focused on roads, pavements and
gutters, he said. (hhr)
