Sanitation at Kenduri Nasional

JAKARTA (JP): The City Sanitation Office will deploy 700
personnel and provide 260 trash bins during the Kenduri Nasional
gala party at the National Monument (Monas) square tonight, an
official said.

Chief of the office, M. Subasir, said 38 trucks will also be
use to remove garbage, the volume of which is projected to reach
about 300 cubic meters, from the area.

"Trucks will be placed in every corner of Monas square,"
Subasir said, appealing to those attending to dispose of trash in
the bins provided.

Subasir said the party, which is costing more than Rp 975
million (US$443,181) to stage, is expected to draw at least
250,000 spectators.

President Soeharto and First Lady Tien, along with Vice
President Try Sutrisno and his wife, as well as a number of
cabinet ministers, are scheduled to attend the grand fiesta. (01)
