TRENGGALEK — Plastic waste, often considered worthless, is now being used as a learning tool by pupils at SDN 2 Bendorejo in Trenggalek, East Java. Through the Sangu Sampah programme, pupils collect and hand in plastic waste, which is converted into points or pocket money that can be saved. The activity took place at the school on Friday (30 October 2026).

The programme, which targets pupils across various educational levels, teaches not only how to sort and manage waste but also introduces financial literacy from an early age. Through this simple activity, pupils learn that protecting the environment can go hand in hand with saving and managing money.
