Sangihe Islands in North Sulawesi Hit by Series of Earthquakes Tonight

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck near Tahuna in the Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, at a depth of 10 kilometres. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported the quake occurred on Thursday at 23:26 WIB, with its epicentre located 150 kilometres northwest of Tahuna in the Sangihe Islands, at coordinates 4.96 north latitude and 123.38 east longitude. BMKG noted that the information is preliminary and may change as more data is processed.

Earlier, at 23:17 WIB, the Sangihe Islands were shaken by a magnitude 3.9 earthquake. A few minutes before that, at 23:09 WIB, a magnitude 4.5 quake occurred. The sequence of tremors continued with a magnitude 4.3 earthquake at 22:43 WIB, a magnitude 3.9 at 22:26 WIB, and a magnitude 3.7 at 22:09 WIB. As of now, there have been no reports regarding the impact of these earthquakes.
